Onwards and upwards....

2819. Thunderstorms!

We decided to take a trip to the Red Museum which is not far from the port where all of the cruise ships come in. We were going to go to a shopping centre too but the receptionist at our hotel said it wasn’t really very good so we decided to leave it for today.

The museum was excellent and well worth a visit, lots to see and the interior was set out in a number of typical rooms of their time with the history around Yugoslavia interspersed between the exhibits. The heavens opened as we left the museum so we stopped for a drink before heading back for the bus back to the hotel….well out poured and it poured and pretty soon we were both soaked through despite the umbrellas!

We caught the bus and squelched our way back via a supermarket and then a short walk up to our hotel. We passed this long line of steps with the water pouring down having overwhelmed the drainage channels at the side…this was cascading across the road and onwards down a further long line of steps. Despite the pouring rain, I had to stop and capture a photo!

The thunderstorms are set to continue for another day before the sunshine returns, so we will probably hang around the hotel tomorrow and perhaps take a dip in one of the two pools as the temperature was 25 degrees in the rain today, hot and humid.

I had a phone call from the hospital about my step daughter this morning so I had to deal with that before we got back to our hotel. Hopefully that will make things a little clearer and perhaps better by then. Another 100 mile round trip the day before we go away again…
