Gaudy …

… is one description of the purple neck and brilliant red beak and facial markings of the Purple Swamphen. We had showery weather today in Pemberton, WA. It cleared this afternoon and we walked around the small lake formed by the damming of Beedelup Brook, in the area called Karri Valley. I photographed this striking water-bird along the way.
