Day 26 - Staying on camping in Kampersvik

We woke to a clear sky and a bright sunny day. We had a discussion about future plans for our last week away. Further south didn’t look promising for places to stay overnight by the sea so Mr C was persuaded that staying here and NOT DRIVING at all all day might be an appealing prospect. (Well it was for me, but he likes to be on the move).

We walked along the marina till we reached some rocks which we clambered up. They were grippy like gabbro. We got lovely view of the inlet and islands before carrying on to a track leading to some houses. We then took a small road with a dead end sign. It eventually gave on to a track through pine woods. It was pleasant enough but not inspiring so we decided to head back. Just then we noticed a narrow rocky track leading upwards so we took that. At the top of the hill the trees became smaller, clad in lovely reds, russets and golds. We passed little sparkling lochans and craggy bouldery outcrops till we eventually reached some houses and a road. Fortuitously there was a board meeting with a map of walks. It didn’t actually show where on the map we were but with the help of my phone coupled with a sense of direction, we headed slightly downhill till the road turned and we took a delightful narrow track along by the sea. We passed pretty little boathouses till we joined the road we’d come on to after the first boulder climb which led us back to the marina and our van.

By now it was hot so we got the chairs out, had lunch and watched people sort out their boats in the marina. It must be getting to the time to get them out of the water as a tractor appeared and got one out. Then couple with young children came along and took lots of stuff from their boat, and loaded it into their car. He drove off and she and the children walked along the road with more stuff in a kind of pram.

It was so nice to sit and read in the sun but it got too hot - unbelievable! We have been so lucky I know - it could have been ‘atmospheric’ for days or even weeks. It’s been such a lovely day.

The blip is from the boulder scramble and shows the van down on the far left of the marina.
