Llangollen

Had a good sleep last night, and actually managed to get up and out fairly early (for us, on holiday, anyway).  We drove into Llangollen and had a wander round the town, along the river (and literally, on the river, as you can get down onto the rocks there), and to the train station.  What a beautiful place!  We nipped into Aldi to pick up some sandwiches and ate lunch looking at the river - lovely.

Came back to the holiday cottage for a cuppa and a rest, then headed back out to the Pontcysyllte aqueduct - an amazing feat of engineering!  So tall, and it's so odd to see canal boats (and canoes) going over it.  Tim and I walked down below it, and along the river a little way, to look back at it - then back up, and I walked halfway over it (while Tim and his vertigo waited at the end) to get a few photos.

Tim cooked us a tasty curry for dinner, and we made use of the hot tub later in the evening.  Luxury!
