Campanile

Strolled UC Berkeley with friend and Cal Alumna today.  UCB's Campanile (Sather Tower) is the iconic building on campus.   Designed by John Galen Howard, who was inspired by the Campanile at St. Mark's Square in Venice, Italy, the UCB bell tower was built in 1914.  The original 12 bells (6 of which are in photo) expanded over the years to  the 61 bell grand carillon.  In the extras is the 'instrument' for playing the grand carillon.  One can take a course to learn to play the Grand Carillon. The other extra shows The Campanile with the school mascots in the foreground.  Go Bears!
