Goodbye, 'The Boss'. RIP

The toughest, physical, job over the last few days must have been those 8 pall-bearers. That coffin is made of Oak, but inside it is another. Lead-Lined coffin hence the use of 8 bearers rather than the normal 6.  It is horrendously heavy, and you could see that in their faces at times.
The photograph is obviously taken from the TV, it's when the pall-bearers were carrying her up the steps into St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle.

It's been a sad few days. I call her 'The Boss', in the title, as that is how she was referred to by servicemen, and veterans. She was our boss, and she had our utmost respect and devotion. We swore our allegiance to her, the sovereignty, we were willing to lay down our lives for Queen and Country.

"I swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, her heirs and successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend her Majesty, her heirs and successors in person, crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of her Majesty, her heirs and successors and of the generals and officers set over me.”

And then you sign on the dotted line, and you are in The Army, The Royal Navy or, as in my case, The Royal Air Force!
