The red admiral was back this afternoon

... and displaying all his/ her finery.  There was a white butterfly also trying to share the Valerian, but this one was bombing it every time it landed.

Good timing too as I'd just finished cutting back the ivy and had almost finished clearing away.  I'm feeling a bit tired at the moment (I'm hoping it's the impact of the jabs and I'll recover my mojo back soon.)
