Ceremonial Viewing Area

We walked from Farringdon towards Westminster this morning, it's only a couple of miles. The City was utterly deserted but as we got nearer to the Abbey more and more people were flooding in the same direction.  By the time we got to Trafalgar Square you had to walk with the flow, you couldn't have walked against it.  And the route was severely constrained.  I guess there were horrendous security issues in London today, so the powers that be allowed far fewer people onto the ceremonial route than were allowed there for the Jubilee, for example.  Even quite early this morning, everyone was being herded towards Hyde Park where big screens had been set up. If you watch the TV coverage you can see that the crowds in The Mall were 4 or 5 deep, whereas the crowds in Knightsbridge along Hyde Park were 20 or 30 deep. An incredible number of people wanting to take part...
