special people

This was inspired by a lovely entry by four story. I found these picture recently in my mother's wallet. They are both of my parents - the one on the right in Trafalgar Square in about 1941, or 1942, taken by street photographer - it's one of those black and white, then hand tinted, photographs. The one on the left is from the late 1960s, and is outside our house. It was probably taken with a Brownie 27 - both my brothers had one. ( And she hand-knitted every stitch on those fetching Arans, by the way.)

My dad is dead now, but his face in photographs was the last one that mum could be relied on to recognise. Now, even that knowledge is fading, I think.
