Wine-red Banksia

Western Australian Banksias are startlingly attractive. I photographed this one today in Torndirrup National Park, on the south coast near Albany. It grows very close to the ocean and seems to be quite tolerant of salt spray in the air.  It is Banksia praemorsa, commonly called Cut-leaf Banksia, referring to the shape of the leaf.
