Inside the icehouse

We went to visit the icehouse in Bewerley where I'd read it had cave spiders.  I couldn't find any at first but once my eyes got used to the light, I was very pleased to find two (with quite different body patterns (extra)) - and an egg sac.  Apparently, they like the dark but they hang their egg sacs nearer the light in the hope that the spiderlings will crawl off and find a dark space of their own somewhere else.  Although, if you check out the extra, there was plenty of space for everyone.
