Waiting for the washing to dry

I took this photograph in Pennan, previously a fishing village, on the Buchan coast.  It doesn’t get much sun, but that gives time to read a good book while one waits for washing to dry.

Pennan was featured in a perfect film called “Local Hero” (1983).  Some images become famous and somewhat hackneyed as a result – Wānaka, a Central Otago (New Zealand) lakeside town, has its ‘Wānaka tree ‘photographed 100s of times a summer’s day … and Pennan has its classic red Telephone Box by the pub photographed over and over (it featured repeatedly in Local Hero). And tourists jostle for space to take their selfies or photograph their partners in front of the famous buildings and monuments. Don’t get me wrong, these “we were there” snaps are great and personal, so I have taken plenty during this Europe trip for me and family only.
