Slow Worm - Anguis fragilis

Here is a slow worm (Anguis fragilis) that I found this afternoon on the downs behind my mother's house in Sussex. Slow worms are not snakes, they are legless lizards.

I used to see lots of these when I lived in the area as a child.

Today I also saw two more bee flies.
