Llyn Barfog

Our last full day in Wales, and we went in search of myths and legends on a walk to Llyn Barfog, or Bearded Lake.

According to folklore a terrible monster (the Afanc) lived in the lake. And people in the area lived in fear of the creature. King Arthur set out to rid the lake of the Afanc. This is where the story diverges. One ending has Arthur lassoing it with chains before killing it, the other that he dragged it to Lyn Cau where it wanders to the present day.

After lunch  we drove to Dolgoch Falls for a quick view of the waterfall.

We went to the Salt Kitchen for a great evening meal to finish off our few days in this part of Wales.
