All's Well

Rio is not so sure about this new addition to the household, so he's playing up, climbing up curtains and being a nuisance.

Thank-you so much to all those who prayed for Eden's blood letting this morning, done by the lovely doctor from yesterday. Wasn't easy putting in the cannula, but a lot less stressful than yesterday, and she gave her a sucrose pipette to distract her as the needle went into the back of her little hand - it sort of worked.

However, have to admit to being shocked at the NHS... we were told we'd be seen straightaway, as it was their mistake yesterday. No such luck, it was hours (in a waiting room crowded with sick children), and no sign at all of anything happening. And then, after the procedure, we were told to wait for the results, in case the consultant wanted to see her. We waited and waited, and eventually, after more hours, gave up and went home. They rang at gone three (we'd gone in at nine) and asked where we were! And proceeded to say they'd got it wrong again, and we'd have to do it again tomorrow...

Anyway, long story short, after two more hours, the lovely doctor rang to say she'd followed up and she'd definitely done it right, and chased up the lab, and lo and behold, they'd done the tests, and she is OK!!!

So, it's good news. But the lack of consideration for a new baby and her Mum and the cavalier attitude to their own mistakes I find shocking. All I can think is that when the NHS is treated so badly by the government, that attitude must then be passed down to the patients...

Gratefuls:
- that it's all ended well, and Eden is OK; still some jaundice, but acceptable in a breastfed baby
- for Raheeda, the angel of a doctor who treated us well, and followed up the results, and had the grace to apologise
- walking in the rain, twice today, quite a novelty, and finding Charlie Bigham's sticky toffee pudding - the best!
