Callanish Standing Stones

Today we toured the northern end of the Isle of Lewis, covering some of the most interesting landmarks along with a few of the places found in blipper Peter May’s Lewis Trilogy books, that both Gina and I had read.

Any photographer knows that if you want a fine picture of a lighthouse, the light must be on.  However, everything I have read indicated that the Butt of Lewis, where the lighthouse is located, has the worst winds, and the worst rain in all of the UK, if not Europe.  Today, it was bright and sunny with just a slight breeze.

We visited the the boat house at the Port of Ness where May’s Angel McCrichie (sp?) met his with his demise.  We had lunch at our visit to the black house museum.

Tonight, we went to the cinema in Stornoway and saw “Old School” with Alan Cummings, a very quirky film.
