Life in Newburgh on Ythan

A murder mystery?

The scene in Peterhead harbour earlier this morning. Has there been an overnight  murder on this old trawler? Thankfully not, just an old dummy, used I imagine, in training exercises to rescue someone who has gone overboard.
Anyway, it put put me in mind of a memorable Aberdeen University graduation ceremony back in the year 2000. I have told the tale before, so apologies if you have heard it already.
At the ceremony an honorary Doctorate of Laws was bestowed upon Helena Ann Kennedy, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws QC. During the ceremony Baroness Kennedy gave to the new graduates a most inspiring address during which she advised that they should never lose their Scottish accents. Her own had served her well and she recounted how during one criminal trial at the Old Bailey the judge had remarked, with much rolling of his Rs in the Scottish manner, "Miss Kennedy, when you talk of murder it sounds like a massacre!"
