Henro-san

There is a famous pilgrimage around the island of Shikoku, which visits 88 Buddhist temples on a 1200km walk. Henro-sans are the pilgrims, and traditionalists walk, whilst those with less time use public transport. They typically wear a white shirt, sedge hat, and use a walking stick. This is the temple of Ishite-Ji with a pilgrim who, having received his kanji character in his pilgrimage book from a monk, was hitting the road again.
