Rough Castle Roman Fort.

We decided to explore the old Roman fort at Rough Castle this afternoon. Not a lot left to see above the grass but the explanatory boards are very good. These holes (“Lilia”) next to Chloe are part of the defences and were much deeper 2000 years ago and had sharp wooden spikes in the bottom. Nice!
We were also very pleased to find our first Fly Agaric of the year.
While we were out it was good and sunny and even warm - ish in the northerly breeze. However, on the way home we encountered some showers. Think that’s going to be the way of it for the rest of the day.
