96 tears

Despite being a family of blues, me, mum and dad took a road trip to Liverpool FC which had become a temporary covid vaccine centre for the day.

The vaccines didn’t happen in the end - a long story - but it was interesting to see the ground, at least from the the outside.

I was moved to see this permanent memorial to the 96 Liverpool fans unlawfully killed at Hillsborough Stadium in 1989. I was at school in Liverpool at the time and remember well the day unfolding as the terrible news trickled out. It’s a very fitting memorial. RIP.
