On the way down to Loweswater

And some liquid refreshment in the Kirkstile Inn. A very fine walk today bagging three more of the Loweswater Fells to add to Mellbreak and Hen Comb which we ascended last March.

This walk took us up to Gavel Fell, Blake Fell with a detour to Carling Knot for more views and finally on to Burnbank Fell before descending in to Holme Wood to Loweswater and the carpark at Maggie’s Bridge.

The views from the high ground and from the summit were spectacular all round. To the west the hills gave way to the coast, to the east to Crummock Water and Buttermere and the impressive fells behind. A clear atmosphere with dramatic cloudscapes added to the grandeur of the day.

Loweswater Gold, Grasmore dark ale and Life on a Mountain slaked the thirst.
