Daze

We’d arrived at 6am this morning but for Blip purposes I’m starting today from once we got to the hotel. We’re quite a way outside of the city, staying near Monash Uni. The hotel isn’t set up for tourists so didn’t have lots of brochures for us to browse through, but at least we were able to check in and settle into the room and have showers and change out of the clothes it feels we’ve been in for days!
Somewhat of a grey day, and our view over warehouses and flat topped roofs isn’t very exciting, but we didn’t feel too tired so thought we should go out for a wander. We weren’t up for a bus or train rise into the city so decided to explore the area, expecting a neighbourhood with coffee shops and interesting stuff to browse. No such luck…! Very American with big dual carriageways and no one walking anywhere. Started with the mall beneath our hotel….just a few food stands and a supermarket and some hairdressers. Walked up towards the Uni, expecting lots of coffee shops, but it’s mid term break and no one really around and just a sports centre cafe. We eventually managed to navigate the buses and someone recommended we try Clayton Rd area so we went there and browsed the Asian food markets and walked around the area - seeing parrots flying around and lots of blossom and spring flowers which seems odd having left autumn just yesterday, then got the bus home (lots of people really helpful and advising on how to navigate the system and which bus to get).
We had some delicious fresh noodles and potsticker dumplings in a little cafe under the hotel, the. bought some fruit and bits of stuff and returned to the suite to do some serious websurfing for ideas for the rest of the week.
Just about managed to stay awake and I had a nice long bath about 7pm then we were in our beds by 8!
