Another Fort

This was one of the nicest France Passion places we have visited, Saint Etienne les Remiremont, in the Vosges area. A red van appeared at 9.00 am with a baguette and two butter croissants, we understand, this could be wrong, a baguette with a point means the dough was risen naturally, with no yeast (as with a sour dough). It tasted good.

The morning was spent doing the normal things in life, shopping, servicing the van, visiting a pharmacy…….

Afterwards a few hours driving west across country to Mont les Neuf Chateau, The FP site is on Fort aux Enigmes, Fort de Bourlemont which was built around 1878 after the Prussian war, it housed over 700 troops once complete. Again in WW2 it was used by the Germans as a place to work on vehicles under the arches and out of sight. It must have fallen in to disrepair and dug out and rebuilt at the beginning of this century.

It was a great place for youngsters to play old style games, mostly interactive.

The rain disappeared mid morning and we now have a bright evening. We are parked just outside the fort, there are goats roaming over the top of the arches and buildings which are covered in grass.
