Covering up the mess

We spent the day here, going through our storage unit, weeding out what to keep, sell, donate and take over the road to the tip. Tiring but we're getting there. Yesterday we sold a van full of antiques to our favourite dealer. The joys of downsizing.

Light industrial estates from the 1980s oil boom are usually pretty desolate. As many weed-filled empty sites as sites in use. Knackered old buildings, often,  Quite a few prefabs dotted around the place, huge tanks used for heaven knows what. Here in Alness, when the estate was first set up by the Highlands & Islands Development Board, some thought went into the look of the place. Everywhere we find ranks of rowans, sometimes two rows deep, especially attractive in spring and autumn. Behind the scenes of course, seedy as ever.
