Kymin

We have gone away for a couple of days. Emma and Andy rented an Airbnb in Kymin for themselves, including Rafferty, of course, and Luna, Ann and I, and Tom.  This is a treat for Ann to celebrate her special birthday earlier in the month.  Pete, Sam, Dave and Izzy are hoping to join us tomorrow.

The place was very difficult to find in the middle of nowhere along some very winding and narrow roads even with help from the GPS.   We did get there eventually with Emma and Andy's help.

Before getting lost in the wilds of South Wales we stopped off at Monmouth for a coffee and sandwich lunch.  Its five years since we stayed in Monmouth, the place hasn't changed much, still a pleasant town with an ancient bridge and guardhouse over the river Monnow.

Once settled in at the Airbnb we went to the nearby National Trust property at Kywin.  This comprises some lovely woodland, an incredible view across Monmouth and towards the Brecon Beacons, a roundhouse where Nelson and Lady Hamilton had breakfast and a Naval Temple.  We had a nice walk with Luna and Raffy.  Then back for tea.

The main picture is the Roundhouse,  the extra is taken in the woods with the sun shining through the trees.
