Tin tabernacle

I was on a field trip with my departmental colleague today for her PhD research. We visited Bramdean church, Cheriton church, and this one: the Church in the Woods on Bramdean Common. It was built in 1883 for the charcoal burners, itinerant workers and gypsies on the common to give them a place of worship. Now part of the Church of England benefice of Upper Itchen, services are still held there.
