Jupiter and its four Galilean Moons

When Galileo first looked at Jupiter through a telescope he saw that it was accompanied by four stars. Subsequent observations showed that the stars were orbiting the planet, confounding the prevailing orthodoxy that everything orbited the Earth.
Nine probes have visited Jupiter since 1973. The current one, Juno, has been orbiting the Jovian system since 2016 and is due to continue until 2025, or longer if the fuel lasts.
This image was taken using a dedicated planetary camera on a 127mm diameter telescope and processed using a variety of software.
