Wellness Walks: BDO Langdale

Backblipped yesterday

After a glorious week in  Langdale today's forecast was, put simply, atrocious. The reality did, for a short while, live up to its billing.  I don't think I've ever seen so much rain put down in such a short spell of time, the ghylls and becks all in instant spate, valley floor flooded.

So what of my Wellness Walkers?

Total stars!
5 out of 7 turned up, kitted up, headed up. We did a small loop of the valley, a once simple path feeling a little treacherous, an adventure to be savoured, comfort zones left.
They kept going, they chattered, they laughed.
For the second time this week I stepped back a whiles and realised this is it, this is what we set out to achieve. They know they can, they're trusting themselves and, vitally, others, giving and receiving.  I swear they came back slightly stronger, definitely happier.
We finished with brews in the pub and slowly steamed ourselves back to dry before a somewhat exciting drive back along flooded roads.

Philosophy Friday
It's not the first step that's the hardest, I've made so many first steps yet still faltered, still fallen. It's the second first step, the third and the however many more it takes to find your own way forward. It's starting again when you're lost, keeping going when it hurts, trying one more time when the voices in the dark whisper you'll fail. It's step by step by step. Each and every one of them makes you stronger.
