Lyttelton Harbour …

….. beautifully calm & serene this morning.

I met up with an old friend over there, a delightful encounter. She may come down & visit.

Then the NaturePhotographicSoc gathering this afternoon. Talking with three of the survivors from the Kaikoura boat disaster made the dreadful tragedy more real. Hearing their different stories brought it all alive. They’re all fortunate to have survived too. It was all salutary & sobering. The way those on shore, who swung into action, helping with the survivors’ needs, including injuries & hypothermia, while in hospital and since, is legion. They’re heroes. An unforgettable experience for all. Today’s low key happening is to be followed by a more public expression, possibly in Goose Bay itself. I’m very relieved and pleased that I made the journey up.
