A Day in Bristol

Alice, Belinda and myself have had a wonderful day exploring the sights around Bristol.
We started out in the car this morning, and went to the Royal York Cescent. As the name suggests the buildings are shaped in a crescent, 4 storeys high, and a basement level too.
Both left hand side photos are from this crescent. We the visited the Suspension Bridge which is high above the River Avon, an amazing feat of engineering. We visited Clifton Village, and then to Blaise Castle museum, and the Blaise Hamlets designed by Nash in 1808. They are gorgeous little houses built in a circle, for the retired workers from the Estate. The photo in the centre is one of these cottages.
We went to Henleaze where there was a little thatched cottage on a corner street, and was of very unusual design. By that time it was lunch time and we came back to our lodgings for some wonderful homemade soup.
By this time Alice and I were just about ready for a 'Nana nap', but no, it was onwards and upwards, and Belinda took us walking up the street. She is very close to the centre of Bristol.
We saw many other building and sights before we ended up outside the Hippodrome Theatre, and to our utter surprise and amazement, Belinda had tickets for us to go and see Agatha Christie's "The Mouse Trap." She tricked us completely! What a great play it was, and I cannot tell you 'who did it' as we are sworn to secrecy.
We continued on our exploration and went up Nelson Street, where there is a lot of graffiti. See the picture on the right hand side.
This was one of the places that Alice had wanted to return too.
We walked on to the Corn Exchange, where there were the Nails, outside the building, like metal round tables, and you banged your money down on them - like paying on the nail.
A term that is still used. I would love to show all these photos but there are just to many.
There is so much history here, and of course Belinda is the perfect guide.
We were ready for tea by this time, and we went to Za Za, a mixture of many nationality of foods, where you get up and fill your plate with what ever takes your fancy.
The end of another's fantastic day.
This looks better in large.
The little blue flower I thought was a forget me not, but not it is Green Alkanet, similar to Borage.
