Autumn Marsh

Now that's its gotten cold enough to kill off the bugs I can enjoy wandering around the house again. The field out front has grown up pretty high, with thick clumps of sweet fern, and it's hard to see your footing unless you follow along where the deer have smushed things down. Since I've already seen a couple of impressive bucks butting heads out here from the porch, it was actually just a little bit tense wading through the long grass, and I scared up two does that I couldn't see until they were fairly close. Once out on the marsh the coarser grasses were shorter and matted down, which made the walking easier. It was chilly though, so I only wandered a bit before snapping a photo. Didn't take long to really feel like October.
