Bridge at Amandi

Another "Roman" bridge, and another one that is probably a medieval structure on the site of an earier, Roman bridge.
The Amandi bridge is on at least two of the Santiago Pilgrimage routes - it may once have been the first point at which the Ría de Villaviciosa could be crossed. It sits below, and close to, the Romanesque church of San Juan de Amandi (see my photo, Sept 30th). From the "old road" between Oviedo and Villaviciosa, as you approach Villaviciosa through the hills, San Juan is visible from a distance, and the bridge is on your route.
