Thomas Coram

Thank you to everyone for the stars, favourites and comments given for yesterday's Blip.

Today I met fellow Blipper W in London. A while ago she'd bought me a book on London's
Monumental Walks and we decided to do the one from King's Cross to Chancery Lane. It was a lovely wander taking in coffee and cake, and lunch of course! Along the way we saw many statues including Mahatma Gandhi, Virginia Woolf and John Bunyan. My main Blip is of Sir Thomas Coram which is outside the Foundling Museum. The Museum opened in 2004, but in 1739, Thomas Coram established the Foundling Hospital to care for babies at risk of abandonment. During its two centuries in operation, the Hospital looked after 25,000 children. The museum building is situated in the grounds of the old hospital. The Hospital continues today as the children's charity Coram.

We came across the extra nearby. It is one of
103 unique globes across the UK exploring the history, legacy and future of the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans through the work of incredible artists.
