Ladder-backed Woodpecker

We've seen plenty of fabulous wildlife in the desert around where we're staying in Joshua Tree, not far from the entrance to the National Park. A pair of Ladder-backed Woodpeckers were working away at these fruits on a Joshua Tree just up the road this morning, and I also saw Roadrunner, Cactus Wrens, Gambel's Quails, Black-throated Sparrows, Verdin, Say's Phoebe and a couple of Mockingbirds on my early morning walk around the block.
