Australian Mousetrap

I listened to an interview with Robyn Nevin, who is directing an Australian production of The Mousetrap, opening in Sydney this week. It gave me a rare opportunity to say ‘We saw it in London, actually’.

The Mousetrap is a murder mystery by Agatha Christie and it’s the longest running play ever. It opened at St Martin’s Theatre in London in 1952 and is still there now. We saw it in 1997 in its 45th year and we still have the program. I have no idea who did it, or indeed what ‘it’ was, but that’s not really the point. It's an institution.
