Rural Geometry

I love the abstract simplicity of rural New England architecture.  Nothing pretentious, just utilitarian function.  This old early 18th century farmhouse is a good example.  Those diagonal lines are wooden pieces that served to prevent the window from being opened from the outside.  Narrow clapboards and granite foundations are typical of this area.  Anyone interested in learning more about rural architecture would enjoy the Jonathan Hale book, The Old Way of Seeing.  A very interesting read.
