View from Tower Hill

We had sunshine this morning, so as I was taking some items to the Recycling Centre in Gourock I thought I would go up to Tower Hill.

The tower on Tower Hill is not an "ancient monument," but was erected in the mid 1800s by General Darroch as a place from which to view the scenery.

When I went to Gourock High, as part of PE class, we used to have to run up to the Tower and back as part of a cross-country route. Some days the weather was awful and when you went round the tower, the cold wind just cut through you. One of those lovely school experiences you never forget.

This morning the weather was much better. This is a view looking across the River Clyde to Kilcreggan, with Loch Long on the left and the Gare Loch on the right.
