Straiton Pond

In between showers we took an afternoon walk to Straiton Pond, welcomed, as you see, by the various waterfowl.

Extra 1 shows a family of swans, who clearly expected to be fed, the cob coming right up the bank and, as we had nothing to offer, reprimanded us with a threatening hiss...we didn't stop to explain.

Further along there is a sandy stretch where there are benches to sit and watch the action; I rather liked the down feather caught on the weed, extra 2.

Taking the cycle/pedestrian path we carried on under the 'graffiti bridge' (under the by-pass) and might have reached Lasswade Road but for another sharp shower but although protected by umbrellas, considered the tarmac path rather less interesting and turned back.

The sunshine reappeared, giving a nice sundog as we reached home, extra 3.
