trancing

my dearest darling pooch, Daisy in her trancing state. As soon as she sticks her head in the bushes she slows right down, her movements becoming slow and deliberate. She can stay in this state for many minutes. They seem to like having a plant (or something like draping fabric) brushing across their back.
I realise that the movements are like when a hunting animal is stalking its prey with those slow, deliberate and delicate steps. And I wonder if the trancing and movements are a vestigial set of actions as their original reason no longer has a bearing on daily existence.
I've only ever seen this behaviour in our English Bull Terrier, but other owners of the breed have reported it too.
The extra is Daisy trancing under the bushes.
