Backblip: The Journey Home

Here's a couple of photos depicting our journey home. Firstly our last view of Toronto from the plane window at about 12.45 am on Friday morning. There was a bit of excitement just after the plane had pushed away from the gate: it had to return as apparently a passenger had suddenly taken seriously ill (just as well this happened then, not half way across the Atlantic!). So back at the gate we had to wait for the paramedics to come and take the ill person to hospital - and for the ground crew to remove their luggage. This only took about 45 minutes and with a good following wind we actually made up most of the time during the flight.

We then took the train from Manchester back to Newcastle: this required a change of train at York so the second photo is our train arriving there for us to get on. It's a quick shot on my phone but I liked the "Beam me Up, Scotty" effect produced by the strong sunlight - it would have been nice by then if it had been able just to beam us both straight back to our house! (I've blurred out the face of the random fellow passenger in the foreground to spare his embarrassment should he ever stumble on this blip as he wasn't wearing a very flattering expression.)
