St James Catholic Church

Every time we walk along The Scores we pass this church which, until today, has always been closed. There was a wedding due to take place at at 11 o’clock and we were allowed a quick visit before the bride and groom arrived.

I didn’t know until today that St Andrews was the centre of the Catholic Church in Scotland until the 17th century Reformation when the Calvinist church took over.

During our brief visit we certainly saw the beautiful interior and magnificent stained glass windows. I hope that some day we might be able to have a longer visit.
