Fragile fungus

I didn’t quite stumble across this specimen; if I had done I would have destroyed it because it is so small and almost transparent, but what a beauty.

Much of the day was spent preparing to go away for a nine day break to the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders. We have been going at this time of year for quite a long time now but this could be our last year. The purpose of the trip is for N to enjoy some salmon fishing but the salmon have been getting much fewer in number over the years so himself is considering his options. Perhaps a change of river or a different time of year. We will see how this week goes.
