Trail Markers

When I came to a road, I found these interesting trail markers.  Its called the Cross Rivendell Trail so I'm wondering - cursive script from "Lord of the Rings"?  It was a lovely hike along Jacob's Brook (in extra).  Very fine day to avoid hunting for a new vehicle.
