Change is upon us

Either the local authority or the builders of the estate had the foresight to plant trees along the verges back in the '60s. Good for them. Some of the less successful ones have been chopped down since, but the majority still survive.

Twice a year they really come into their own: when new leafy growth appears on the bare branches, and then again when the lush green turns to red and brown. All too soon now the dead leaves will pile up on the ground and the leaf blowers and suckers will be called into service. Right now, though, the display is impressive.
