Green letterboxes

Being English I am used to red postboxes but now I have to get used to green ones! This one bears VR - presumably from before Irish independence. I haven't noticed what marks are on the current Irish boxes although I will go out and have a look tomorrow.
It will be interesting to see the new British boxes with CR on (and the coins,.stamps and all the other things that will need to be changed).
