Loafers

A 400 mile drive back north today in glorious sunny autumnal weather. Before we got to the M4 the countryside and the trees looked splendid. So too was this display of loaves at the farm shop at the Gloucestershire service station. They must have been baked by specialist bakers as per my title.

As headed over the border the temperature dropped from 15+C earlier to 7.5, in part due to the cloud and occasional shower. Fortunately by the time I got back to Edinburgh it had warmed up a fraction.

A doze in the chair rounded off the evening before being brought back to reality with the news reports of the bombings in Ukraine. If I heard correctly each cruise missile used by Russia cost around £10 million. To use them to target civilians and children’s playgrounds amongst other sites! How can be said to be a commensurate response to the bridge attack, even if it could be justified?
