Wild weather

We knew we were taking a chance on the weather on North Uist at this time of year, but we had little choice as this trip has been booked, postponed, moved, cancelled several times over the last two years and finally these were the only two weeks we could get into this house, which we love. The problem is that lots of other people love it too, it is the kind of house that spoils you for staying anywhere else, so people return many times, as we do. (This shows it in all its glory.)

So, the weather is not good - very wet and very windy. And today we haven’t even had the sunny intervals we have had on other days. Never mind - we ventured out along the road to buy smoked salmon. It always seems strange buying the same smoked salmon that I often buy online and which was especially welcome during lockdown. I had a chat with the lady there and I said how much I appreciated the efficient online service and the lovely postcards they send me. She seemed quite delighted. We bought some packs of salmon. We then made it to Lochmaddy and tea/hot chocolate and good cake at the Community Centre. Then we returned to our wonderful house and our books and to watch the weather from inside.

Hoping for a little better weather tomorrow.
