'Bridget'

The tiny baby elephant, nearly ready to be packed up and sent to her forever home with my friend Helen’s new granddaughter, now 2 weeks old.  H and her partner were going to meet their new granddaughter tomorrow but this morning S tested positive for covid, so their plans have been scuppered.  They were also supposed to be joining us to the cinema this afternoon to see ‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ but obviously couldn’t,  so somewhat reluctantly Mr HB and I went on our own.  We loved the film and for me especially when Mrs Harris is at the House of Dior where, in the film , the staircase, the showroom, the cutting and fitting rooms, the models and finally the fashion show reminded me so much of my time working at Hardy Amies (the Queen’s dressmaker) in the 60’s.

Afterwards in the ladies loo everyone was talking about the film and one lady told us of her friend who owns a fabric shop in Devon  but in the 60’s she was a seamstress at Dior in Paris and kept details of all the clients, even having Audrey Hepburn’s measurements.

I feel so sad for Helen not being able to see her granddaughter and just hope that S’s covid departs quickly and H doesn’t get it.  What a nightmare this C has been.

An upside, dinner is easy:  homemade lasagne, heritage carrots and tenderstem broccoli, all prepared earlier as H&S were to stay for dinner, no pudding though as H was bringing it.

Tiny elephant for TinyTuesday – thanks to Jill (JDO) for hosting.
