Backside of the Dahlquist

A couple months ago I enjoyed lunch with LocalFoodLover at Dashi Noodle, where the two of us quickly became the subject for the Bellingham Herald's roving photographer. Dashi Noodles is on the ground floor of the old Dahlquist Building.

Today, on our way to satisfying a midafternoon ice cream craving, we walked past the backside of the Dahlquist building. I've always been drawn to the assortment of doors and windows on this back wall, anchored by the red door in the center, leading to the Antler Apartments.

I've heard there are plans for some much-needed renovations to this fine old building, and having fresh new businesses, such as Dashi Noodle, moving in is part of the plan to give this part of town a facelift.
