Doire na Guaile

From this fjord on the SW coast of Rona, the now-deserted settlement of Doire na Guaile was supplied with the needs that could not be met by their subsistence life on the island. A barren island, with pockets of pasture amongst the rocky hill-sides, so any "luxuries" will have been imported. And, of course, from here they would export any surpluses ... kelp, perhaps; sea-food, certainly; and illicit whisky, probably. Given the climb to and from Doire na Guaile, perhaps it is little wonder that the settlement is now deserted. All supposition, of course, but reasonable.
